Some background info on the storm:

A Category 2 hurricane, has 154 km/hour winds, which must be sustained for 1 minute.

Hurricane Juan was recorded at McNabbs Island with 151 km/hour sustained for 2 minutes, so it may be re-classified as a Category 2 whereas it was classed as a Category 1, the level of damage caused was extreme.

The eye of the hurricane passed around Sambro or St. Margaret's Bay (near Peggy's cove), which is east of Halifax. The most destructive part of hurricane, the east side of the eyewall, was a direct hit on Halifax, Dartmouth and urban areas just to the east. From there it tracked north across Truro, Pictou County, toward Charlottetown PEI.

Most of the area to the east of Dartmouth is still without power Sunday October 5, 2003, including down Highway 7, Cole Harbour, Lawrencetown, toward Musquodoboit, etc. This page shows some pictures taken during the storm. My guess is there will be many more pictures posted after power is restored.
