This dynamic family came to ALVC from Red Deer Alberta with their two teenage boys Kyle and Jared in the fall of 1998 and immediately poured their hearts into the church, people and community. Maureen & the boys were gifted musicians who lead us into divine worship and cultivated these gifts in others.
Pastor Evan, a very passionate, preacher never missed an opportunity to inspire us all to examine our Christian walk and encourage us to reach higher. The fruit of which is apparent today. Pastor Evan & Maureen McNeely were a part of the Victory Church organization since 1989 helping with 5 differing church plants. They caught the Victory Vision while in Calgary for two years working with Drs. George and Hazel Hill during the establishing of the first Calgary church plant. As well, they helped establish the first Victory Church adoption which is now the Lac La Biche Victory Church, and worked as well with a church plant in Athabasca, and Edmonton under Pastor Roy Beyer helping to open the northern Alberta Victory Church movement. Pastor Evan and Maureen were associate pastors in Red Deer with Pastor Dale & Maxine Edmunds before coming to Nova Scotia.
This couple knew the heart of Victory and really helped us to catch the Victory vision for evangelism, missions and church planting by bringing in such Victory speakers as Rev. Toa Ishera Congo (now pastoring in New Zealand); Dr. Jay Seelan, India; Pastor Julie Kissick, Lethbridge Alberta. It was their heart to have the community of believers work together and thus began inviting other ministers from churches in the Truro/ Bible Hill area to guest speak. As well they encouraged those with a heart to minister in the congregation to be given opportunities to step out in faith in the area that the Lord was moving them into. This included those who had musical talents or desire to be used in the ministry of music and those who had a passion to preach and share to be given an opportunity to give a message that the Lord had laid on their hearts. Their passion was to encourage people to be used of God, in whatever capacity that was.
They were part of the pastoral team of the Victory Churches for the Maritimes helping in the Halifax church plant. They helped with the organization and hosting of the first Maritime Victory Church area Conference as well as hosting the yearly Maritime Ladies Conferences they were also gifted administrators who oversaw a number of successful outreaches such as the Lorne Shephard one week family/relationship seminar, church signs, Sunday School attachment/renovation, dinners and concerts.
